The Wylie Pirates baseball program has spent all season putting in the work that it takes to endure challenges and fight against adversity. As the team gears up to face a tough Midway program in the second round of UIL baseball playoffs, VYPE DFW takes a look at the team's season so far:
With several victories over talented programs through pre-season play, the Wylie Pirates posted strong wins over the likes of East Central, Cedar Park, Little Elm, Wakeland, and more en route to district play. Once in district, the team secured an 8-1 district record to finish second in their district. Showcasing their ability to fight hard in all moments, the team shut down opponents like South Garland (18-1, 14-2), North Garland (19-2, 11-0), Wylie East (3-2, 7-5), and more in a dominating fashion in order to head into the playoffs.
Facing Mesquite Horn in their first playoff series, athletes like Brendan Morris, Michael Puccinelli, Carson Cox, Chase Martni, Bailey Seibert, Jagger Bale, and others helped lead the Pirates to convincing victories securing the series in two games. Midway will likely be one of the toughest teams Wylie has faced all season. Coming into the series on an 11-game win streak, Midway can be expected to put up a tough fight against Wylie. Wylie has what it takes to take down the Panthers if they focus on the long game.
Be sure to catch the start of their series on May 11!
